Sunset Cranberry Eyes & Glowing Skin Christmas/Holiday Tutorial

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

I am currently lying in bed and wasting away, watching Riverdale because I have work tomorrow until Sunday. Even though it’s my last shift of the year, I still hate standing and forcing people to buy my product, ya know?

I love warm toned eyeshadows. In fact I’ve always admired beauty guru’s who were able to pull off these intricate looks. I just have to say that I was so impressed with how my eyes turned out in this look and I think my skin looked so glowy in this video. As usual, I would love for you to support me in my YouTube journey (update, we just hit 600 subscribers!) by subscribing to my channel, viewing my content or even leaving a like or a comment.

Swiitch Beauty Unicorn Sauce Palette Review & Selena Gomez 2017 Met Gala Inspired Pink Eyeshadow Tutorial

Told you I’d be back with a few looks.

Hello lovelies! I hope you’ve had a great week and that you’re ready to party up a storm this weekend, or if you’re like me you’re ready to relax and have cute Instagram brunch dates (the single blogger life is sad sometimes).

In this video I reviewed the SwiitchBeauty Unicorn Sauce Palette and also recreated this eye look Selena Gomez wore to the Met Gala earlier this year:

My Thoughts On The Unicorn Sauce Palette ♡:

Shipping & Shopping Experience ♡:

I ordered this palette as part of the Pink Friday sale, which is Swiitch Beauty’s version of Black Friday. I ordered my palette at midnight on the dot and did not experience any problems with checkout or paying for the palette. There was an option for express shipping or normal shipping. I paid for normal shipping and the palette arrived at my house the Monday morning at 10AM I remember that I still wrote an exam that morning and left early so I could get home early. I have to give a big thumbs up to SwiitchBeauty for delivering so quickly. The price wasn’t heavily discounted and I ended up paying around R265,99 in total which is relatively close to R350. Therefore, I’m really not impressed with the so called ‘sale price’ that they seemed to offer.

Packaging ♡:

The packaging of the palette is one of the best in my opinion. It has a holographic finish and looks amazing! The palette contains 35 intensely pigmented, buttery smooth, mythical eyeshadows. The shades range from yellows, oranges, pinks, violets, greens and blues to black.

Swatches and Colour Pay Off ♡:

I have to say that I was relatively impressed with the swatches of the shades in comparison to the Slays For Days Palette. I was not impressed with the orange shade in the Slays For Days Palette but this palette blew me away. I loved the shades I used on my eyes. They blended well and there was only fallout in the palette but not on my face. I was honestly so impressed, that I rated my palette a solid 10/10. I cannot wait to create colourful looks with this palette!

The Completed Recreation ♡:

This is the finished look I tried to recreate from Selena, I really love how this turned out!

Swiitch Beauty Slays For Days Palette | Worth The Hype?

If there’s one thing my readers should know about me, it’s that I’m brutally honest.

–CLICK PLAY TO SEE MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS, PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE–

Last month, I ordered the Slays For Days Palette from Swiitch Beauty. If you don’t know, Swiitch Beauty was founded by Rabia Ghoor. She is a South African entrepreneur who left high school in Grade 10 to persue a career in the beauty industry with her own startup named Swiitch Beauty. I love the fact that she is so young and started her own business. More power to you girl!

Swiitch Beauty offers a selection of products which you can find here and I have to say that the selection is quite impressive. I opted for the Slays For Days Palette which offers 35 intensely pigmented, buttery, warm toned shadows. It retails for R350 and I happened to get mine with free shipping.

First off, when the package arrived it was so securely wrapped which meant so much to me because it ensured that the palette didn’t arrive broken and that all the shadows were in tact when they came to me. The packaging of the box is absolutely stunning, with rose gold lettering on the front of the box. Another important note is that this palette is cruelty free. A while ago, Love, Kaylyn wrote a blog post with all the details which you can find here I absolutely love her blog and her aesthetic is to die for!

A question that seems to be on everyone’s lips is where exactly Swiitch Beauty’s products are manufactured. I personally have no idea,  but there has been some talk about people spotting the products without the brand logo from China. I personally do not mind, as long as they are cruelty free and no animals are harmed in the process!

One thing I have to say is that I love the variety of colours in the palette. I love warm tones and I am contemplating purchasing the Unicorn Sauce palette. However, during my tutorial (if you watched the YouTube video above), I complained about the smell of the packaging. This to me was a bit of a problem, as the smell was so strong it gave me a headache.

I don’t know how to pin down the scent but it was obviously so potent that it left me with a wofting headache. I’m going to try to leave it out of it’s packaging so that the scent disappears though.

With regards to swatches, some of the shades did not swatch nicely but on my eye they blended really well and the shimmer shades were very intense even without using a make-up applicator brush.

In my video, I spoke about the correspondence and how quickly the palette arrived so if you want more information on that then please watch the video.

This is the finished look I created with the palette which I am extremely pleased with:

IMG_7386

I did recreate this look in the video so please go and watch it to see how I created this look.

Overall, I’d rate this palette an 8/10 just because I didn’t like the fact that the palette left me with a headache and I do feel that the price is a bit expensive so I don’t know if I agree with the price. In terms of pigmentation and blending I loved this palette so much! Would you like one of these palettes? I’m thinking of doing a giveaway!

VLOG: The Body Shop Play For Peace Event

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve written a blog post. YAY.

–CLICK PLAY TO WATCH, PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE ♡–

I am one of those people who get overly excited for Christmas and everything that comes with it. My favourite part is spreading joy and love throughout the festive season. The Body Shop South Africa was kind enough to invite me to their end of year media event and I just have to say that this cause is something which is quite close to my heart.

One of the reasons I love the season of giving is because I myself did not have much to begin with. I grew up in a family where we did not have much, but we had each other and that taught me how to be grateful. My parents worked their fingers to the bone to provide for my brother and I. I’m very grateful for my family and I wish everyone could experience love like that.

The Play For Peace Campaign is an initiative The Body Shop came up with in order to support children in need. For every gift set you purchase from The Body Shop, you contribute to the Peace Play Project, which provides a safe space for children to play and heal. This programme teaches children how to deal with their trauma, cope with their losses and express themselves without violence.

The Body Shop has inspired me to give more this Christmas, which is why I will be embarking on a few charity campaigns this Christmas. To follow my journey, subscribe to my YouTube channel and look out for my Christmas videos coming up.

Please support this amazing campaign by purchasing any selected gift set from The Body Shop.

Review: Garnier Pure Active Intensive 3-in-1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead Wash, Scrub & Mask

It’s been a while.

If you follow me on social media, you would have seen that recently I decided to take a break from Instagram and posting almost daily. As a student, my work load can go from “what am I doing at campus” to “I should be paid for writing 2000 word essays and coming in for tests on Saturdays”.

I love unwinding while I write papers so that I don’t feel overwhelmed. Taking care of yourself is an important asset to your mental health and should always be your first priority. Recently I received the Garnier Pure Active Intensive 3-in-1 Anti-Blackhead Wash, Scrub and Mask from Garnier and at first I was a bit hesitant. Being someone with sensitive skin, I wasn’t sure how my skin would react to the product and if it would work.

First off, I have to say that I received 2 products but will be saving my second review for my demo video. If you didn’t know, I have a YouTube channel which you can find here if you would like to see beauty tutorials, reviews and vlogs. I would love if you would subscribe to my channel so you can be a part of my YouTube family.

I used the charcoal scrub as a mask and I have to say I’m really impressed. It didn’t smell too intense but still had a very nice scent. After leaving the mask on for 5 minutes, I washed it off with warm water. Most masks usually leave my skin feeling rubbery and tight after using them and then result in a massive break out. This mask left my skin feeling so soft and smooth. Apparently this product is supposed to tighten pores as well and I did feel it working. I have yet to get the dreaded blackhead break out but I’m so eager to put this bad boy to work! I love the product so much and I cannot say enough good things about it.

SOME MORE INFORMATION:

Retail Price: R102* (price may vary according to retailer).

Review: The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid (6/12 shades) & Lip Scuff

Life is short, buy the lipstick.

I’ve always been a massive fan of The Body Shop. This year I was fortunate enough to be invited to their Drops of Light event. At this event, they introduced us to a wide range of products The Body Shop had to offer which included the Matte Lip Liquid which I will be reviewing.

As a student, I had to watch my budget as The Body Shop can be quite pricey, and for good reason. The quality of their products are so good, that I feel it is value for your money. These babies retail at about R90 each and recently they had a massive 3 for 2 sale, which I caved and bought 3 more and it only costed me R180. The first 3 I had purchased at the event.

From left to right: Sicily Iris, Sydney Amaryllis, Paris Peony, Cali Gerbera, Taipei Orchid and Windsor Rose.

The packaging reminds me so much of the Kylie Jenner lipglosses, without causing me to spend my entire salary. With a simple matte black cap and 8ml tube of lipgloss, I feel that it is definitely worth the spend.

The colour selection in this range was what I was most impressed with. I feel that 12 shades are not a lot but the colours they offer are out of this world. One thing I do have to note is that I feel that the colour in the tube is not the same when applied to the lips. In some instances they are much darker and others much lighter. The darkest shade I own which is 019 Sicily Iris, shows almost black in the bottle but then on the lips it’s more of a deep plum, but not as dark. The darkest shade in my opinion would be Sydney Amaryllis which shows up closer to a neon pink/red on my lips.

The only bad thing I can say about this product is that sometimes one coat is not enough, which is normal as I’ve never had one swipe colour pay off before. The other thing I’ve noticed is that when I wear this, it takes a few minutes to dry down matte.

With that being said, I feel that the good definitely outweighs the bad when it comes to these lip liquids. I’ve eaten meals before and still had my lip liquid stay on, I’ve only ever had to reapply maybe once or twice. I love that this is hardly drying on my lips as I do struggle with dry lips so I feel that I have a love-hate relationship with matte lipsticks or glosses because they can be very drying. I feel that these are so wearable and I haven’t tried it before but they should be kiss proof too (provided your significant other does not eat your face off). Lastly I love the smell of these because it is a bubblegum scent and it smells so heavenly. To me, Sicily Iris smells like grape bubblegum!

I do not have swatches of the lip liquids because I am saving that for a swatch and wear test video so people can see for themselves!

image4

The Lip Scuff:

Being someone who struggles with dry and chapped lips, I needed an exfoliator for days when I really need to treat my lips. This lip scuff has a very menthol type of scent and feels like an exfoliating scrub, just in the shape of a lip balm. I love how moisturized my lips feel after removing the dead skin and this prepares my lips for the matte lip liquid. It has not been damaging on my skin and I love how cute the packaging is! That is the item pictured above with the silver cap. I would definitely recommend this as an exfoliator for your lips.

Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends “The Sleek Restorer” Shampoo & Conditioner

I have to start off by saying that I hate shopping for shampoo and conditioner. I worry that if I purchase a product (on my student budget, by the way) I won’t be happy with it and it won’t work with my hair type.

This weekend I picked up the Garnier Ultimate Blends “The Sleek Restorer” Shampoo and Conditioner at Clicks for R40 each. So firstly, I only spent R80 on both products which I consider to be the best bargain EVER. This had to be too good to be true, right?

Wrong! Infused with coconut oil and cocoa butter, this shampoo and conditioner promised to deliver super-sleek smoothness for dry and frizzy hair. Boy oh boy, did this baby deliver.

IMG_6508

FACTS:

Coconut oil is a highly nourishing and protective oil from the tropical coconut to leave skin and hair smooth, soft and supple. It is an instrumental in taming dry and frizzy hair.

Cocoa butter is a rich butter, gathered from the far reaches of the Ivory Coast, smooths
and nourishes hair and skin with its delicious chocolate scent. It is renowned for taming frizz and fly aways.

REVIEW:

Anyone that knows me, knows that I’m not usually one to sing a products praise without putting it to the test. So this weekend I indulged in a nice hot shower and washed my hair with both products. My hair is extremely curly and I prefer to wear my hair straight because I find it easier to maintain. The problem with having naturally curly hair and constantly using heat tools to straighten? Frizz. I hate the fact that whenever I dry my hair, 5 minutes later I have this one patch of hair that just screams for help because it is so dry and frizzy. I dried my hair and went to bed and the next morning I was so surprised at how smooth and silky my hair felt. Another thing I cannot stand is when products claim to give you silky smooth hair, but end up making your hair feel oily. If my hair is oily it will show and cause a lot of dandruff. I did not have this problem when using the Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoo and conditioner and I had little to almost no frizz. What I loved most about these products, is that even though they are infused with oil, they didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy and oily. Rather it combated my dry strands and added moisture back into my hair.

For anyone wondering, the smell is quite sweet which I do not mind because I love sweet-smelling things. I can safely say that even though it is Tuesday, I washed my hair on Sunday evening and my hair still smells amazing!

So. In all fairness, I was a bit hesitant to try out this product just because I had seen it all over social media. I often worry that when you see a product become so popular it is either forced or in fear that a brand may not work with you. These products were affordable, worked well with my naturally curly hair, did not leave my hair feeling heavy and oily and smells too good to be true, YUM!

What shampoo and conditioner are you using at the moment?

Loving Lately ♡: My Top Picks From The Body Shop

It’s no secret that I am obsessed with everything pink, anything that smells amazing and good quality products. This is exactly what I get from The Body Shop every time I shop there and they never seem to disappoint. I love the fact that The Body Shop is cruelty free as I am trying my best to get into more cruelty free products. I was fortunate enough to be invited to an event hosted by The Body Shop where I got to learn a little bit more about some of the products featured and received the brushes as part of the goodie bag. (Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that my editing game has gone up a notch!?). I would just like to take a minute to state that this post is not sponsored by The Body Shop, and I only review products I am very impressed with and that I feel others will enjoy too.

These are just a few of my top picks from The Body Shop:

IMG_6468

♡ The Body Shop Strawberry Hand Cream (100ml = R90) ♡

IMG_6474

I love hand creams. Being a student, I’m constantly on the go and most of my lecture venues have terrible air conditioning which often dries out my hand. It doesn’t help that I’m very aware of germs and every time I have to use the university computers or printing labs, I have to use hand sanitizer which does not add any moisture whatsoever. Although I have the bigger version (you can find the travel size variant here), I still find it perfect for campus and I have no problem storing it in my bag. It’s a smooth almost gel-like formula with cold-pressed strawberry seed oil which ensures the most amazing scent. It does not leave my hands feeling greasy after use, which is perfect because I’m almost always taking notes.

♡ The Body Shop Travel Size Strawberry Shower Gel (60ml = R40) ♡

IMG_6475

I picked two of these up before I went to Thailand in July. I absolutely love the strawberry scented range of products from The Body Shop and I feel that this is such a perfect travel size. I had no problem fitting this in my travel bag. It’s soap free but still manages to keep my skin feeling amazing and so nourished. It also contains cold-pressed strawberry seed oil, similar to the hand cream. I think that R40 is a good price for a travel size and perfect for student budgets.

♡ The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in 014 Sydney Amaryllis, 020 Taipei Orchid & 022 Paris Peony (8ml = R90 each) ♡

IMG_6476

If I’m not mistaken, when I purchased these, they were R85 at the time. I must admit, for this price it really is worth it. I’ve been dying to get my hands on Windsor Rose and Cali Gerba. It glides on like a gloss but it does not dry out your lips at all even though it is Matte. There are 12 shades within the range which is a great colour variation in my opinion. I love that these last all day without re-application and I can eat while the matte lip remains in tact. This is definitely one of my holy grail products and my favourite has to be Taipei Orchid, as I’ve featured it in many of my Instagram photos.

♡ The Body Shop Slanted Contour Brush & Foundation Buffing Brush = R185 each  ♡

IMG_6473

I will admit that while this post is not sponsored, I did receive this in a goodie bag from The Body Shop event earlier this year. I’ve used both and washed them and they have still remained in very good shape. The contour brush is perfect for a clean and defined contour to give your face a “chizzled” effect. The bristles are synthetic and the handles are wooden. What really impressed me about the buffing brush is that this was perfect for foundation application in the sense that it did not leave any bristle marks on my face which is the main reason why I prefer using a beauty blender. This brush allows you to build the coverage of your foundation without absorbing too much product.

In my opinion, the only thing that really saddens me when it comes to The Body Shop is that you cannot order online and their stores are located quite a distance from where I live. You can purchase a few products from the Clicks website, but they do not offer all the products from The Body Shop. Other than that, I am crazy about all their products and look forward to my next visit in order to review some more products!

Beauty Haul: What’s On My Beauty Desk?

“Home is where the make-up stash is”

I love shopping. I don’t care if it’s window shopping, online shopping or simply going into a store to browse around and make a mental list of all the items I should start saving for. Unfortunately, I am a student. And I do not own my own car, which not only makes it difficult for me to move around but also limits my time when I do go shopping, just because I have to work on someone else’s time schedule. Another downside to not having my own car is that I cannot have a part-time job which requires me to work during the week. I’ve mentioned before on my blog that I am a product promoter, so I stand in store and market products to shoppers in the hopes that they will buy it and make my company look good. I only work this job on weekends and this job is not permanent which means that only when a promotional product becomes available, I will be able to work (if I meet the criteria of the company).

Now imagine my excitement when I realized I had enough birthday money put away in a fixed account and enough to leave in my personal and splurge on myself? Yes please. I went to Clicks and Dischem (for any of my followers outside of South Africa, these are drugstore make-up stores with a pharmacy and other retail items, equivalent to a Walgreens) this weekend and picked up a few things to add to my collection.

IMG_6355

Eylure London Lashfix Strip Lash Adhesive (Dries Clear):

IMG_6349

I didn’t go into Clicks with the intention of purchasing this, but I do own many pairs of false lashes which often don’t come with adhesive. Not only that but I can’t stand the tiny bottle that comes in the packaging of most lashes as I find them very difficult to work with. I almost always misplace my lash glue and I can’t stand the pre-glued lashes. This seems like a good investment and I noticed that there are also many variants including some that dry black. I chose the clear due to the fact that it’s my personal preference.

Eylure London x Cheryl Flower Girl Lashes (114)

IMG_6351

My lash addiction is the bane of my mother’s existence. I only have a few boxes, yet she can’t stand when I come home with more of them. How could I not pick these babies up? I love how wispy and dramatic these lashes are and they do not look heavy which really ticks my boxes. I think what I love most, and what caught my eye was the featherlight feel. I wear glasses and often find that my eyes get really sore and irritated if I wear heavy lashes. These are re-usable so I will have no problem using them again and there is a mini adhesive in the box.

Eylure London Lashes Designed By Kimberly (118)

IMG_6350

I don’t have a lash addiction… I just love lashes! Picked up my holy grail lashes from Eyelure. This is a brand I swear by and I love these particular lashes because they add length and look fairly natural. I think there’s something about how natural these look on me that keeps me coming back for more every single time.

L.A Girl Pro Conceal in Natural

IMG_6352

For those of you who watch my YouTube channel tutorials, you would know that for a long time I had been using the L.A Girl Pro Conceal in Creamy Beige. I felt that the shade was too close to my skin colour so I went a shade lighter and picked up this baby from Dischem. For some reason I’ve never seen L.A girl in Clicks. I wanted to try a few other products from L.A girl but I was on a time crunch so I didn’t have the time to swatch and browse.

Essence Long-Lasting Lipstick (25)

IMG_6356

I never used to like lipsticks when I was younger and to this day I still find myself wiping it off before I eat. I saw this colour while browsing the Essence Cosmetics section at Clicks and I fell in love. I received a gorgeous package from Essence with never-before-seen products and I’m going to film a tutorial with this bright pink lipstick tomorrow!

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation (303 True Nude)

IMG_6353

I desperately needed a new foundation as my Yardley London Stayfast became really watery and I couldn’t use it anymore. There was nobody in store who could colour match me so a little hack that I found was that if you have a particular foundation already, pick it up and compare it to the other shades in store. Boom, instant colour match with no testing needed. I hope this shade is correct but I won’t be too phased if it isn’t because I’ve been dying to pick up The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops.

What’s on your beauty desk at the moment? x
