January Instagram Round Up

Hello beautiful and welcome back to my blog!

This year has started off with a very busy schedule for me. One of the things that I promised myself is that I would be more consistent with 3 things: my blog, my Instagram page and my YouTube channel. I’m very proud to say that I have accomplished this goal in terms of the fact that I’ve been posting almost every single day on Instagram (OK, maybe not January), I now post a new YouTube video every Friday and I would like to bump up my blog post to 3 days a week!

These are my January Instagram snaps. Would you like to be friends on Instagram? I love following fellow bloggers. Just pop me a follow and comment that you found me via blog and I’ll be happy to follow you back xo.

6 posts for the month of January is ridiculous, but if you follow me then you would know that there were a ton of posts for the month of February. One of my photos were even featured on the Urban Decay South Africa website!

Curly To Straight Hair Tutorial – My Straightening Routine 2017

There’s nothing I love more than fresh, clean hair! In this tutorial I will take you through how I go from curly hair to pin straight with absolutely no frizz!

Just to clear things up, I’ve had curly hair all my life and I have never had any treatments or drastic changes made to tame my curls. Over time I have learned to love my curls and accept them as part of who I am, I am honored to be part of the curly hair squad!

As usual, I’m going to ask that if you watch my video, please leave me a like and subscribe to my channel if you’d like to see more videos from me. I would love if you showed me a little bit of love!

PRODUCTS USED:

This was not mentioned in my tutorial but I use the Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Smooth Perfect Shampoo and Conditioner. This is for frizzy, course and unmanageable hair. I absolutely love the smell and I’m patiently waiting to finish the conditioner so that I can feature it in an empties video!

I love using a wide tooth comb to comb through my curls as it causes less damage. I cannot stand going to the hairdresser because they always pull tons of my hair out because they do not know how to treat frizzy hair and they use a normal comb.

My blowdryer is from Parlux. It was purchased from the hair salon as it is a professional blowdryer as well as my GHD original IV styler. I do not mind spending money on products as I feel that hair is an investment and it will last a long time. I would highly recommend investing in products such as these because other hair tools which are usually inexpensive do not give you the best results and can often times only last a short while before they give up on you. I’ve had my GHD since I was in tenth grade, and I’m already in my 3rd year of university (WHOOP WHOOP FOR GRADUATING NEXT YEAR).

Big Barrel Brush is from the hair salon as well. This allows me to get through larger sections of my hair without struggling as much and has the most amazing grip.

Are we friends on social media? I would love to get to know you! My handles are below xo.

4 Braided Hairstyles – BaByliss Twist Secret Demo & Review

DISCLAIMER: This post is not sponsored, I was sent this product in exchange for an honest review and demo.

Hello Beautiful and welcome back to my blog!

I was supposed to get this post up a while ago already, but I was having issues with my wifi. Today I’ll be talking about the BaByliss Twist Secret and showing you 4 different hairstyles which you can create with it. If you do watch my video, please feel free to subscribe to my channel and show me some love by hitting that “like” button.

To be honest, when I was sent this product I was not sure what to make of it as I’ve never seen something this creative. I think the last time I braided my hair was when I was in high school, which was 2 years ago. I took it as a challenge to get back into the groove of beautiful braids but trust me, it was NOT an easy task.

Firstly, the product is very small and convenient for travel. The only problem is that the product is battery operated. This is a downside due to the fact that should your batteries die, it’s a hassle to go out and find batteries. I personally would have liked if it had a cord, but the product does have batteries in the box which is a bonus.

Next, the battery cover has a screw on it. I was very unhappy when I wanted to play around with it and found that I needed a screwdriver in order to get the product to work. This is another inconvenience because nobody carries a screwdriver with them when they travel (or is it just me that doesn’t?). Crisis averted, I just called up my dad and asked him to open it for me.

The product has 2 levers which you need to push in order to insert your hair into the strands. The portion which holds your hair is very small which means that you can only work in small sections and is not convenient for bigger braided hairstyles. Other than that, you insert your hair into the product, push the power button up to twist the strands and push it down to braid it.

It is a pretty complicated little tool, is it worth it though?

For people who love experimenting with hairstyles, it’s a pretty cool gadget! The only things to consider is the screw, the amount of hair you can work with and the fact that it is battery operated. Other than that? I’d rate it a solid 7/10.

Here are the 4 hairstyles I created, feel free to watch the video to see exactly how to re-create them. If you watch the video, please don’t forget to like and subscribe!

Beauty For Beginners Series: Beauty Life Hacks

I’ve just finished watching a great episode of Come Dine With me and I have to say, I’m addicted. My heart hurts when I have to write that this is the last feature of my Beauty For Beginners Series, and it has done so well over time. I really want to continue blogging daily and I will, maybe with a day or two off as I am busy studying for exams, I write my mid-year exams which kicks off on Monday but luckily I have great spaces in which I can balance my studies with my blog. Tomorrow I will be uploading my first vlog and it would mean so much to me if you subscribed in the mean time by clicking here xo.

Without any further delay, here it is, my final installment of Beauty For Beginners xo

IG PROMO POST

  1. You can use your foundation brush to pat on your under-eye concealer if yours does not have an applicator. I have a whole post about Beauty For Beginners Series: Brushes if you’re interested.
  2. If you thought your Beauty Blender was just for blending foundation, you couldn’t be more wrong. You can remove harsh contour lines and remove excess product.
  3. An angled blush brush can be used to contour your face, not just to apply blush.
  4. Messy lipstick edges? Grab your concealer brush to clean it up without ruining the rest of your make-up.
  5. Want your eye shadow to appear more smokey? Try running the shadow below your lash line for a smokey eye effect.
  6. If you need to hide your eyelash glue, try dipping a fanning brush in gel liner and applying it over the glue.
  7. Did you know that if you want a matte lip, you can use a normal lipstick? Simply place a tissue or tissue paper over your lips and apply pressed powder over the tissue. Voila, matte lipstick and it lasts all day!
  8. To appear more awake, use a white eye shadow in the inner corners of your eyes.
  9. To highlight the eye area, add highlighter below the brow bone and in the middle of the lid.
  10. If you want to make your eyes appear bigger, run a nude eye pencil on your lower lash line.
  11. Lipstick can double as a blush if you ever run out. Apply lipstick to your cheekbone and blend into the skin.
  12. To make your eye shadow pop simply cover your lid with white eye pencil before applying the eye shadow.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my series and thank you for everyone who has shown this series so much love. It really motivates me to put out more content on my blog when you get amazing feedback.
