30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 22 – 5 Fave Tracks of the Week

I’m going to be totally honest, I didn’t really know what to write and I had a whole lot of preparation for campus so it’s currently 22:36 here in South Africa and I don’t know why I am exhausted as I am right now.

I’ve mentioned before that I love listening to music and I thought I’d just leave a few tracks that I’ve been loving lately. I have done a post like this before but as time goes on, my music gets updated and I listen to new things.

  1. All Your Fault – Big Sean ft. Kanye West (Explicit): I have an unhealthy obsession with memorizing fast-paced lyrics and I have come to love this song so much. It took me about two weeks to fully nail it but I just love rap music because sometimes there are some great puns and a lot of word play. As an English major you can imagine how that excites me!
  2. We Don’t Talk Anymore – Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez: Back to my love for girly, romantic music which Matthew can’t stand when I blast it in the car, this song really has a great feel specially when you’ve lost connection with a loved one. It’s really one of my top tracks on my playlist and I am loving it.
  3. On My Mind – Ellie Goulding: Who doesn’t love blasting Ellie Goulding and not caring who hears? I know I do, especially this latest hit track because it is literally music to my ears. Well done Ellie! Dance floor chart topper for sure.
  4. In the Night – The Weeknd: This man did not win those Grammy’s for nothing ladies and gents. The Weeknd is an extremely talented artist with a Michael Jackson feel. I like that he can make music that speaks to the soul but still has that sultry edge that makes your knees weak.
  5. King Kunta – Kendrick Lamar: If his Grammy performance did not blow you away then please feel free to leave my page. I honestly love rap music and among my favourite artists, Kendrick Lamar definitely tops my list. I am so excited to see what he’s going to do next

Sorry this isn’t one of the greatest posts but I’m not feeling too well and I am dying to get into bed. Goodnight!

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 20 – My Make-Up Look For Work

So, I think I owe my readers both an apology as well as an explanation…

I haven’t posted in a few days and the reason is because as many of my readers know, I have started university already and week 1 is officially over (Okay, not really I’m still at home and have a lecture at 1) but I have also started working on weekends which has been both exhausting and rewarding because I have money to purchase those extremely expensive textbooks. I have already started scheduling my blog posts as well as YT videos so that this does not happen again so once again, I do apologize for the delay!

Yesterday my GRWM for work went up on my channel and you can click down below to watch it:

For those of you who can’t watch, I’ll take you through my routine step by step:

  1. After completing my skin care routine, I usually prime my face with my Isabella Garcia Day Defense moisturizer.
  2. I apply my foundation which is the Yardley Airbrush foundation in the colour “Natural” and use my Cala 303 Foundation Brush.
  3. To even out my foundation, I use a damp beauty blender and dab it all over my face. Emphasis on dabs and not strokes because you don’t want to stroke your foundation off.
  4. For my eyes I used my Charlie Revlon Neutrals palette and a combination of 3 gold to orange shades which was applied with my Pupa eyeshadow brush. I then used my Charlie Revlon ‘Rock n Curl’ mascara. Most of the products mentioned in this post can be found in my January faves on my blog, feel free to search it in the search bar at the bottom of the blog.
  5. Using my Clinique lipstic in “Peach Pop” this gave my lips a subtle yet great pop of colour. Loved the vibrant yet soft tone it had and is perfect for work.
  6. To tame my brows I went in with my Essence brow pencil in 02 Brown.
  7. Lastly I used my Design compact powder to set my make-up and to give me a great finish.

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 19 – Mini Make-Up Haul

Hello and no I refuse to say “It’s me” because if I hear that joke once more I will probably lose my mind.

I’m coming to you today with my MINI cosmetic haul. Emphasis on mini because I am a student and your girl is just so damn broke. I only start working this weekend, which I am grateful for but I only get paid in 3 months time which means I’m even more broke than I should be.

I forgot to insert 2 products I purchased (Don’t you just hate that).

DSCN0632.JPG

I’ll start with the products not featured above:

Design Compact Powder in the shade “Mahogany”: I purchased this powder as I really want to start contouring and highlighting. It’s a pressed powder which is extremely delicate on my skin and does not cake or come out relatively obvious. I purchased it from Edgars.

Design Clear Gloss in the flavour Melon: Who doesn’t love a sweet smelling gloss? Loved it, but it’s sticky so definitely not for dates ladies. This was also purchased from Edgars.

From Top To Bottom:

DSCN0635.JPG

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes In Black/Noir: I absolutely hated using the winged liner before because I felt I had no control and it always looked messy. Ladies, let me tell you that this Scandal Eyes pen is perfect for precision and won’t smudge at all. Loved how easy it is to use and that the tip/applicator is almost like a koki pen which doesn’t move all over the place like a paintbrush type applicator would. LOVE IT.

DSCN0636.JPG

Essence Cosmetics Eyeshadow Blending Brush: Today I had to make the hardest decision I’ve ever made when it comes to brushes. The powder brush or the blender? As you can clearly see I went with the beautiful lilac blender which has the softest bristles and is the perfect size for blending, definitely going back for another one due to the fact that you can’t have just one blending brush, especially when doing more complicated make-up looks.

DSCN0637.JPG

Katy Perry Cool Kitty Lashes from Eyelure: I broke into these bad boys last month already but just felt they were a little too much for a beginner like me. I have seen some lashes I’m dying to try in the store so stay tuned, there might just be a lash haul in the near future!

DSCN0633.JPG

DSCN0634.JPG

Essence Cosmetics Eyeshadow in the shade “Snowflake”: Yes, this would be a great colour to wake me up if I placed it in the corner of my eye but I’m really feeling this colour for a highlighter! The consistency was so smooth and pigmented I really would like to try this out as a highlighter.

The last product would be my Essence cosmetics brow pencil in 02 Brown which you can find in my January Faves over here

Well, that’s about it from me. I know I was supposed to upload part 2 of my terrible break up and how I got through it but that will have to wait.

What’s your fave beauty product at the moment?

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 17 – My Bath Time Essentials

Hi everyone!

So today I’m coming to you with a post about my basic bath time essentials. As most of you may know, I have a YouTube channel: JustDeeanneDIY where I post beauty, fashion and lifestyle content. Recently I asked my viewers if they would like to see my skin care routine and I wanted to know if you guys wanted to see it on my blog too? If you do, let me know!

DSCN0622.JPG

Starting from the front to the back:

Mr Price Home Vanilla Fragrance Candle: The smell of this candle is absolute bliss to me. I’d describe it as a sweet, candy-like, cupcake fragrance. Love the fact that it’s not harsh at all, especially because my nose is extremely sensitive when it comes to fragrance. This candle was inexpensive and makes a great gift for candle lovers.

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub: Due to the fact that I film a lot of beauty videos for my YouTube channel, I tend to have to wash some make-up off that I find a bit harsh to wear out and I do suffer with stubborn blackheads so this not only helps with the removal of my make up because it’s laced with beads so it’s a scrub, but it helps my skin at the same time. Love this product

Oh So Heavenly Pretty In Pink Body Wash: The smell of this body wash is beyond amazing, I’m really bad at describing scents but I think it has undertones of rose and it’s just a soft fragrance. This came in a set with the loofah on the left as well as a body lotion and it was the best gift I have ever received. I have been using this non-stop and my mom loved it so much she bought the jumbo one which is almost a litre!

Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Smooth Perfect Shampoo & Conditioner: I did a video on how to repair dry damaged hair and it has received many views. I mentioned this product and I don’t wash my hair every day but when I do this is my go to shampoo and conditioner. I purchased this in a set and it came with a hair mask. If you have damaged hair then this product is amazing.

There are only 13 days left of the 30 day challenge! It’s been hard, but I loved every single day and getting to meet new bloggers.

30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 17 – What’s In My Bag Video + My YouTube Channel

Hi Everyone!

This post is just a bit of an update, I know I have done a What’s In My Bag? blog post, put the video is finally up on my YouTube channel so you can click the video above to watch and subscribe to my channel. I think the ultimate goal for me would be to reach 500 subscribers and I would love to actually talk to you guys through my videos because sometimes I feel a blog post is not really that personal but when you can see and hear someone it’s just touching (I’m hormonal, forgive me).

I thought it would be fun to tell you guys the story behind my YouTube channel and give you guys some idea of what goes into my videos and editing.

I started my YouTube channel in September last year and I was extremely nervous because I had another channel before which was not as successful. The idea of my channel were to incorporate aspects of my life which I wanted to pursue as a career and build a portfolio of my work to use as reference so that I could showcase my love for fashion, beauty and lifestyle in one place while still being able to put myself out there and meet new people and work with brands. I’ve never collaborated with anyone on my channel before but I just hit 100 subscribers this month! If you guys are interested, I will be doing a giveaway on my channel in the near future so definitely stay tuned for that.

The best part of making videos for my channel would be filming the videos. I’d say that make-up tutorials are the easiest to film, while lookbooks are a little bit more intense. The most difficult video I’ve filmed and edited would be my Shoe Collection video which I will link here:

This video has over 600 views and I’m still mind blown when I think about it.

I use Windows Movie Maker to edit my video along with Expression Encoder for texts and effects. I have been playing around with Cyberlink Power Director but it is a little bit complicated.

Editing my videos usually take me about 3-4 hours and I usually take up about 2 days so that I don’t overwhelm myself. Then I use PicMonkey to edit my thumbnails. I upload videos every Friday and try my best to incorporate those videos into my blog.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments (:

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 14 – Classy Couture 01

SURPRISE!

So my ear is ringing and keeping me up so I thought I’d add a new segment to my blog called Classy Couture. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of sites like Tumblr and Pinterest and I always go there for fashion inspiration and just to look at amazing pictures and photography in general. I really wanted to add that to my blog where I will post pictures that cought my eye or pieces I’ve been loving. It will vary but I was inspired to do this by a fellow blogger!

Recently I have been OBSESSED with skirts. I just love the girly look it gives and the fact that you can just take it and make it your own. You can wear it and not look girly at all. I decided to edit them in Polaroid form because I think it looks cute. The following pictures are not my own and all credit goes to the respective owners, I found most of these on Tumblr.

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 10 – My Fave Nail Polishes

I should probably start off this post by saying no, this post is NOT sponsored by Sorbet or any other brand for that matter. Side note: Has anyone ever heard of Glambassador or has been contacted by them before? Just want to know if it’s legit (:

Hi everyone, we are a third of the way through the 30 day blogging challenge and I am coming to you today with another favourites post. Today I’ll be talking about my fave nail polishes at the moment.

DSCN0569.JPG

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

Essence The Gel Nail Polish – 21 A Whisper of Spring: I’ve been wanting to try a light lavender shade for the longest time and I’ve tried nail polishes from Essence before and I must admit they chip really quickly. With the gel polish and my gel coat from Sorbet I don’t experience that problem and it’s a really great colour pay off and the consistency isn’t too watery.

Sorbet – Red Light: Probably my favourite shade out of all the ones featured in this post. Great cherry red colour and it’s such a deep colour without the watery consistency as I’ve mentioned before and I really like that after 1 coat, it was good enough to go.

Sorbet – Blush: Such a cute and girly colour without being too obvious. Great for a nude look and just so soft which I adore. I received this in a set of 3 along with red light and the gel coat as a gift from Matthew’s (my boyfriend) mom. It even came with a cute travel case for your nail polishes.

Sorbet – Vanilla Ice: I’ve tried many blue nail polishes before but this one definitely blew me away. I really like soft colour nail polishes because I feel like I have fat fingers so I don’t like to attract attention to my fingers very often. Colour pay off I would rate a 7/10 due to the fact that you have to apply 2-3 coats to get the shade you want.

Sorbet – Pink Cheeks: A bright pop of pink which I wear when I feel more daring and usually I will wear this colour on my toes. It’s a fun and flirty colour.

Sorbet – Gel Top Coat: I think that what I loved the most about this gel coat is that I can remove it with nail polish remover and it comes off really easy. That way I don’t damage my nails which often leads to breakage and sometimes my nails won’t grow at all after a gel mani which is why I tend to stay away from those.

Hope you enjoyed! Any post suggestions?

Back To Campus Stationery Supplies Haul 2016

Hello my lovely readers

I am currently typing up this blog post with the biggest headache because I am in the process of reorganizing my room. I don’t know why cleaning always gives me such a headache. Today I’ll just be showing you my stationery supplies for the year and I know it’s January but I go back on the 15th of February and I wanted to start my year off on the right note x

Nothing mentioned below was sponsored and all my stationery was purchased from Pick n Pay unless stated otherwise.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:

image2

My glitter pencil case is from Typo and it was a gift from my boyfriend for Christmas. It’s not really big but holds everything I need including my  mini stapler and staple remover and I was really impressed.

image14.JPG

The second gift from Typo is the A5 buffalo grey glitter notebook which I use as my planner. I use a notebook because it gives me more space to write and plan and I can paste months-at-a-glace planner pages which are basically free printables from my favourite studyblr which you can find here.

image15.JPG

These are my 192 page hardcovers in which I transfer my notes neatly and make them colourful. I really like these book covers which are from Carte Blanche. I do not take these to campus every day and I re-write my notes at home.

image7.JPG

This adorable owl notebook I purchased from CNA and this is where I will scribble down my notes from class and then transfer them to my notebooks at home. I really like the ringbinder type of notebook and this one has those pre-cuts where you can tear out your pages without leaving the ugly marks from the rings.

image3

My Hello Kitty Tippex correction tape is so small and easy to put in my pencil case. I like how small it is and it’s so adorable!

image5

My owl ring binder in which I keep my tests and assignments. In the past I have been asked to resubmit assignments and I always misplaced them so I just keep everything in one place because I do not want that to happen again so lesson learned!

image6.JPG

I personally think every student should have a flip file because this stores all my information so if I should lose my backpack then someone can find my student number and email me if they find it. Also, I keep loose notes in here so that they don’t get crumpled and ruined in my backpack.

image4

My little Tatty Teddy envelope keeps all my loose notes in one place for when I’m in a rush and can’t file everything separately. This is one of my must haves for campus because it’s so convenient.

image13

How cute are these Hello Kitty pens from BIC? I was so scared these were the gel ink but luckily they weren’t. This was a great deal but I would’ve preferred more black pens though! However, I like taking tests with blue pens.

image8

I personally love using koki’s in my notebooks because they make my notes neat and colourful and I mean, who wouldn’t want to study from colourful and brightly coloured notes? I’m not really a fan of highlighters because they always smudge so these are a great alternative.

image9.JPG

Sticky notes for little reminders and important notes. I have them in yellow, pink and green.

image12

The reason I bought this little notebook was for the colourful tabs. I’m an English student and we do a lot of reading so I have to mark up texts and these are perfect for that. Also, the sticky notes I purchased separately are not going to be nearly enough so I’m glad I purchased more.

image10

How cute are these erasers? I just died and went to heaven when I saw these because I love cupcakes and these are so tiny and cute.

image11

As a student you have to hand in TONS of paper and most of the time you’re not allowed to bother the staff for a stapler which is why I keep one in my pencil case. I also keep a staple remover because I often have to remove rubrics from previous assignments or I forget to attach a rubric or declaration.

That was pretty much it for my little haul. What are your favourite stationery items?

My “Grown Up” Christmas Wishlist

SURPRISE!

Two posts in one day, because I am so excited for the Christmas holidays!

So I recently came across a website called Spring and thought I’d feature my take on a grown up wishlist. I am 19 so I don’t really feel all that grown up yet but I thought I’d give it a go!

You can check out the Spring website here and they have such a wide variety of fashion and beauty for women, men and kids.

This was my first partnership/collaboration with a company on my blog and I am honored to be part of this.

I have divided my wish list into categories, namely: fashion, technology and other.

F A S H I O N:

source_photo

I fell in love with this dress when I saw it on the Spring website, it so beautiful and the color is absolutely stunning. I love how I could easily dress this up for a formal event or keep it cool and casual for a lunch or dinner date.

crossback midi

I have always been obsessed with open back styled dresses and shirts and this one is clearly no different. Santa if you’re reading this, I’m a size 8 (I think, I’m not too sure how sizes work in other countries but I’m sure they start from 4 here in South Africa)

d8skmf-i

These cuties would look amazing as an addition to my shoe collection, if you haven’t seen it then feel free to check out my previous blog post on it! You won’t regret it.

louboutin

A little bit out of my price range, but hey this is just a wishlist, These red soles would be a beautiful fit to the family. Dear Santa, I’m a size 5.

T E C H N O L O G Y:

rose-gold-iphone6.jpg

The only thing I would really like is a new phone. I love being part of the Android family, but I feel that it’s time for a change. The rose gold iPhone 6 has been a dream of mine since the release. I’ve had my Samsung S3 mini for about 3 years now and it is giving up on me slowly but surely.

LG-smart-tv_2281731b

Okay, maybe this one is a bit too drastic but I would love a television in my room. I hardly watch TV and the only reason I haven’t been able to is because I don’t have one of my own and the one in our lounge does not have cable so I have very limited channel selection. Sometimes I’d like to watch TV of my own when I come home you know?

O T H E R:

cq5dam.web.1280.1280

My dream vacation has to be Bora Bora. Wow, if I could just experience traveling overseas, this is where I’d like to go. Looks like I’ll have to save a lot of money though.

6009__2776__youtube-logo-full_color

My dream is to reach 1000 subscribers and it’s been done before by a lot of South Africans. Look where Caspar Lee ended up. Currently with 5 million subscribers and growing rapidly. I am so proud of him.

6a0120a7cb9b0e970b016764ff5fa9970b

Lastly but definitely not least, Christmas is a time of giving and we shouldn’t forget to remember that while some of us are opening gifts and enjoying a great meal, others are in search of their next meal or place to live. My wish this year is that people come together an make a greater effort to reduce poverty around the world.

Well, that was my grown up wishlist.

So tell me, what’s on yours?

Sincerely,

Deeanne
