Pink Glitter Smokey Eye – Super Easy + Perfect for Beginners

WATCH – LIKE – COMMENT – SUBSCRIBE

It’s no secret that pink really is my favourite colour. I believe that you should always leave a little sparkle wherever you go and I think I did just that when I envisioned this look. As most of you know, I graduated last week Tuesday and I did this look on my eye (with a different set of lashes, which I regret – deeply) but nevertheless I loved how easy this was to do.

I did a series of different looks for graduation, but I feel that this one would be perfect for a date night or a prom look!

It’s been a while.

Hello lovelies and welcome back to my blog. I am proud to announce that I have completed my third year of university (God willing, I really don’t want to qualify for a supplementary exam). September Favourites & Surprise Announcement!

Hello and welcome back to a bran new post, beautiful!

So before I start rambling on about my new found September Favourites, I would just like to announce that I have my own domain! I am now available at http://sincerelydeeanne.co.za and I also have a giveaway happening in a week or two, so if you would like to enter then head over to my Instagram where the giveaway will be happening.

So I know September isn’t exactly over yet, however, due to the fact that I’m going to be extremely busy filming and working on getting my drivers, I can’t promise it will be up when September ends! So here we go:

IMG_2661.JPG

IMG_2662.JPG

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Correct & Perfect CC Cream in Medium:

Recently I’ve been loving the “no make-up” make-up look where I don’t want to go through the effort of putting on a full face but at the same time I still want to look somewhat presentable with a light blush. So this is where my CC cream comes in, it has all the coverage of a foundation without feeling so heavy on my skin. Some people complain that it leaves their skin a bit oily but I’ve never had this problem. Thumbs up from me! This retails for about R99,95

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser:

I love having flawless looking skin, unfortunately I have huge pores and it often looks like I have holes in my face. Ever since I’ve heard about the Maybelline Baby Skin, I had to get my hands on it. It really does leave my skin with a flawless finish and I love a good bargain for only R80

Michelle Ori Paris Eyeliner In Feliner:

If you guys missed my Kendall Jenner Inspired Look, I used the Michelle Ori Paris Eyeliner to wing my eyes. I was featured on rubybox beauty’s newsletter and on Yardley London SA’s Instagram page. Check out the link to watch it.

Design Compact Powder in Soft Beige:

Who doesn’t love a good setting powder? I love the fact that this powder from Edgars is extremely affordable and not that hard to find since their are so many Edgars branches which have a make-up table. This powder prevents make-up from caking on my face and also gives me a less dewy finish if I don’t feel like a glowing face.

Essence All That Greys Lipgloss In 01 Roaring Red:

I feel that this lipgloss is more purple than red. I used this in my Vampy Burgandy Winter Make-Up Tutorial & Bold Lashes

I love this lipgloss because it lasts extremely long and doesn’t dry out my lips like most lipglosses do. I love how sleek it looks and super ready for the Fall. Try it out for yourself! This was about R49,95, however this range has been discontinued.

LA Girl Pro Conceal Concealer:

BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE. I wasn’t a huge fan of concealer before but after finding this one that doesn’t cake on my face, I am OBSESSED. I will never leave home without concealer if I’m wearing make-up because I have a lot of stress pimples so I need to get rid of those without harming my skin. If I’m not mistaken, this retails for about R49,95.

Beauty For Beginners Series: Beauty Life Hacks

I’ve just finished watching a great episode of Come Dine With me and I have to say, I’m addicted. My heart hurts when I have to write that this is the last feature of my Beauty For Beginners Series, and it has done so well over time. I really want to continue blogging daily and I will, maybe with a day or two off as I am busy studying for exams, I write my mid-year exams which kicks off on Monday but luckily I have great spaces in which I can balance my studies with my blog. Tomorrow I will be uploading my first vlog and it would mean so much to me if you subscribed in the mean time by clicking here xo.

Without any further delay, here it is, my final installment of Beauty For Beginners xo

IG PROMO POST

  1. You can use your foundation brush to pat on your under-eye concealer if yours does not have an applicator. I have a whole post about Beauty For Beginners Series: Brushes if you’re interested.
  2. If you thought your Beauty Blender was just for blending foundation, you couldn’t be more wrong. You can remove harsh contour lines and remove excess product.
  3. An angled blush brush can be used to contour your face, not just to apply blush.
  4. Messy lipstick edges? Grab your concealer brush to clean it up without ruining the rest of your make-up.
  5. Want your eye shadow to appear more smokey? Try running the shadow below your lash line for a smokey eye effect.
  6. If you need to hide your eyelash glue, try dipping a fanning brush in gel liner and applying it over the glue.
  7. Did you know that if you want a matte lip, you can use a normal lipstick? Simply place a tissue or tissue paper over your lips and apply pressed powder over the tissue. Voila, matte lipstick and it lasts all day!
  8. To appear more awake, use a white eye shadow in the inner corners of your eyes.
  9. To highlight the eye area, add highlighter below the brow bone and in the middle of the lid.
  10. If you want to make your eyes appear bigger, run a nude eye pencil on your lower lash line.
  11. Lipstick can double as a blush if you ever run out. Apply lipstick to your cheekbone and blend into the skin.
  12. To make your eye shadow pop simply cover your lid with white eye pencil before applying the eye shadow.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my series and thank you for everyone who has shown this series so much love. It really motivates me to put out more content on my blog when you get amazing feedback.

Beauty For Beginners: Highlighting & Contouring

Hi everyone, today I am back with my third installment of Beauty For Beginners. This series was originally just created to help beginners starting out in the confusing world of make-up and I’m really proud to say that this series has done well for itself so far!

Firstly I’ll be defining highlighting and contouring:

Contouring: technique using shading to define and enhance certain facial features. You can do things from enhancing your cheekbones to slimming your nose and even slim down your face as a whole! Comes in either a liquid formula or a powder. I’d recommend powder for beginners because liquid can get very tricky sometimes. As I’ve said before, all up to preference. Some people like to use liquid because it gives them a seamless finish and doesn’t look like make-up.

Highlighting: Simply put, highlighting adds a shimmer effect to areas on the face so certain features appear more sculpted, which in turn makes the contour stand out. Areas known best for highlighting are under the brow, above the cheekbones, the cupids bow and the line of the nose.

IMG_1506.JPG

From right to left: my contour powder is actually a pressed powder from Edgars and a steal at R32,95! It’s in the shade Mahogany. Next we have the Beauty Treats LA Perfect face trio which comes with a highlighter, contour and blush which I purchased from Dis-Chem. I accidentally threw in my pressed powder on the left just to make the photo look full, whoops. I will have a full review on the Beauty Treats LA palette soon.

SKIN TONE: If you’re fair only use one shade darker than your skin tone to avoid the harsh colour showing. If you are like me and relatively tan then you go 2 shades darker and so on. Highlighters should be almost the same colour as your skin with just a hint of shimmer. Unless you want to look like Edward Cullen, avoid highlighters with glitter.

BRUSHES: As you all know my first installment was on brushes. I use the fanning brush to highlight and an angled contour brush to contour.

One thing to take into consideration is the shape of your face and I’ve left a chart description down below for the types of face shapes. You can determine which one is yours. Unfortunately, I’m only able to give the basics of contour and highlighting but there are tons of blogs with more in-depth articles if mine does not work for you.

F8NIV4HHNM4FD47.MEDIUM

The steps below may sound a tad bit confusing but if you would like an in-depth tutorial I won’t mind putting one up on my YouTube channel. You can find my channel, just click here xo

Areas to contour would be the corners of the forehead and then the hollows of your cheek. If you can’t seem to pinpoint the hollows of your cheek, simply suck in your face as if you were making a “fishy face” and it should be more visible. Next, move on to the jaw bone to shape the face as a whole. Contouring your nose is optional, some people prefer to have a slimmer nose and that’s okay. If you feel like yours is fine you don’t have to worry about this step.

When highlighting the main areas to focus on are above and below the brow bone. If you contoured your nose you can highlight down the middle and on your cupids bow. Then above the cheekbones and you’re good to go!

I only have 1 more post for my series of Beauty For Beginners unless anyone has any requests which you can leave in the comments and I’ll be sure to help out. I’m really excited to announce that I have a VLOG coming on Thursday so you definitely want to head over to my channel and subscribe so that you’ll be notified when it goes up!

Beauty For Beginners Series: Brushes

Hi everyone! I trust that you all had an amazing weekend, and that you’re excited for today’s post. Today I’m going to be starting a new series on my blog, Beauty For Beginners where I talk about my all time favourite holy grail products and what I think would be great things to use, especially if you’re starting out. I only started experimenting with make-up when I was in my senior year of high school, and 2 years later I’m not a pro, but I’ve learned a few great things along the way. Today’s topic is brushes and what I feel you should be starting out with, what the purposes of the brushes are and how you can use them to the best of your ability.

An important tip to note when it comes to brushes: Natural bristles work best with powder products and synthetic bristles work best with liquid or cream products.

The Foundation Brush:

IMG_1480.JPG

The foundation brush is used to smooth out liquid or cream foundation for streak-free application. Alternatively, it can also be used to pat on under-eye concealer. My favourite brush is from Cala Cosmetics and it’s the 303 brush, purchased from Dis-Chem. Really affordable but not a must-have. Some people prefer to put on foundation with their fingers, but in the end it’s really about what works for you.

The Beauty Blender:

IMG_1478.JPG

A beauty blender is a sponge which you use the sponge’s broad sides to smooth out product on your face. You can use the tip to reach creases around the nose and to pinpoint small areas. Alternatively you can apply cream blush, blend out harsh makeup lines, and remove excess product. I unfortunately do not own a real Beauty Blender although I wish I did, but I do own a similar sponge from Big Apple Cosmetics which I purchased a while back. You can also purchase sponges from Dis-Chem but I found their sponges extremely harsh on my skin.

Blush Brush/Angled Contour Brush:

IMG_1477.JPG

Truth be told, on the packaging of the image seen above it did say blush brush but it is actually an angled contour brush. It can however be used to apply blush. The slanted bristles make it easier to apply products perfectly to your cheekbones. Alternatively you can apply contour powder (two shades darker than your skin tone) below your cheekbones to emphasize your natural contours. This brush is from Pupa cosmetics

Concealer Brush:

I have unfortunately forgot to add my concealer brush to the mix, but basically a concealer brush is used to pinpoint specific areas that need extra coverage. Alternatively you can clean up messy edges when it comes to filling in your brows and lipstick. I purchased my concealer brush from Ralo Cosmetics.

Eye Shadow Brush:

IMG_1475.JPG

An eyeshadow brush is used to evenly apply powder and cream shadows. Dab on shadow under the lower lash line for a smokier eye. The eyeshadow brush pictured above is from Pupa Cosmetics. This is a great brush and I would definitely recommend it.

Blending Brush:

IMG_1473.JPG

This brush has changed my life in so many ways. Essence Cosmetics is a very underrated brand and their brushes are nothing short of amazing. The fluffy bristles diffuse eye shadow in the crease of your eye and give shadows a softer finish so that there are no harsh lines. This brush has the cutest doodles on it and comes in the colour lavender. What’s not to love?

Fan Brush:

IMG_1472.JPG

Use this to clean up fallen product or gently apply powders. Love using this to highlight on my cheekbone and give my face a glowy finish. This brush came free in the Cosmopolitan magazine and I have no issues with it, except that it was originally supposed to be a foundation brush but the bristles were way too thin and loose to apply foundation. It’s always important to note that you don’t HAVE to own every single brush there is, being a student I understand the struggle and make the best with what I have.

Powder Brush/All Over Brush:

IMG_1470.JPG

Simply put, this brush is used to apply powder to the skin for a smooth finish and also to clean up highlight, contour and blush. My powder brush isn’t the best, but does the job pretty well so I can’t complain.

I’m very excited to announce that I have my own Facebook page! You can find me by looking up Sincerely, Deeanne and please give me the thumbs up.

Stay tuned for a great week of tips for beginners!

My Fave Yardley Lipsticks for Winter.

It is definitely that time of year again where the cold sets in and to make my face look less pale I have to wear the darkest colour (or in this case, somewhat dark) to make myself look a little bit presentable. I was recently gifted 2 Yardley Ultra Kissable Super Moist lipsticks and I was more than just impressed. Not only does the lipstick moisturize my lips, but also adds a great pop of colour to any plain or glam look. I’ve inserted various pictures of the lipstick itself, swatches and how it looks on my lips (unfortunately I’ve only worn Coco in the picture below). The names of the Yardley lipsticks are Burnt Plum and Coco, although Coco is more of a dark red than a brown.

Swatched side by side, or in this case above and below each other, burnt plum at the top and coco at the bottom

Here are some images from a date night I went on recently with my boyfriend of 3 years, Matthew. I am pictured wearing the shade Coco.

Before the date night:

After:

I did not have a liner in this shade so please excuse my messy lines, but I can assure you it looks really good. And I may or may not have eaten when this was taken so this is what it looks like AFTER I ate which is great because it hardly budged or disappeared and I didn’t feel the need to apply more since I was home already.

I hope you enjoyed my little selection of winter lipsticks to hopefully add to your own collection. What’s your fave shade for winter?

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 20 – My Make-Up Look For Work

So, I think I owe my readers both an apology as well as an explanation…

I haven’t posted in a few days and the reason is because as many of my readers know, I have started university already and week 1 is officially over (Okay, not really I’m still at home and have a lecture at 1) but I have also started working on weekends which has been both exhausting and rewarding because I have money to purchase those extremely expensive textbooks. I have already started scheduling my blog posts as well as YT videos so that this does not happen again so once again, I do apologize for the delay!

Yesterday my GRWM for work went up on my channel and you can click down below to watch it:

For those of you who can’t watch, I’ll take you through my routine step by step:

  1. After completing my skin care routine, I usually prime my face with my Isabella Garcia Day Defense moisturizer.
  2. I apply my foundation which is the Yardley Airbrush foundation in the colour “Natural” and use my Cala 303 Foundation Brush.
  3. To even out my foundation, I use a damp beauty blender and dab it all over my face. Emphasis on dabs and not strokes because you don’t want to stroke your foundation off.
  4. For my eyes I used my Charlie Revlon Neutrals palette and a combination of 3 gold to orange shades which was applied with my Pupa eyeshadow brush. I then used my Charlie Revlon ‘Rock n Curl’ mascara. Most of the products mentioned in this post can be found in my January faves on my blog, feel free to search it in the search bar at the bottom of the blog.
  5. Using my Clinique lipstic in “Peach Pop” this gave my lips a subtle yet great pop of colour. Loved the vibrant yet soft tone it had and is perfect for work.
  6. To tame my brows I went in with my Essence brow pencil in 02 Brown.
  7. Lastly I used my Design compact powder to set my make-up and to give me a great finish.

If you do watch the video, please don’t forget to like & subscribe!
