My Fave Yardley Lipsticks for Winter.

It is definitely that time of year again where the cold sets in and to make my face look less pale I have to wear the darkest colour (or in this case, somewhat dark) to make myself look a little bit presentable. I was recently gifted 2 Yardley Ultra Kissable Super Moist lipsticks and I was more than just impressed. Not only does the lipstick moisturize my lips, but also adds a great pop of colour to any plain or glam look. I’ve inserted various pictures of the lipstick itself, swatches and how it looks on my lips (unfortunately I’ve only worn Coco in the picture below). The names of the Yardley lipsticks are Burnt Plum and Coco, although Coco is more of a dark red than a brown.

Swatched side by side, or in this case above and below each other, burnt plum at the top and coco at the bottom

Here are some images from a date night I went on recently with my boyfriend of 3 years, Matthew. I am pictured wearing the shade Coco.

Before the date night:

I did not have a liner in this shade so please excuse my messy lines, but I can assure you it looks really good. And I may or may not have eaten when this was taken so this is what it looks like AFTER I ate which is great because it hardly budged or disappeared and I didn’t feel the need to apply more since I was home already.

I hope you enjoyed my little selection of winter lipsticks to hopefully add to your own collection. What’s your fave shade for winter?

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2016.

Hi everyone, I am so excited to put this post up because I have an exciting announcement to make. Firstly, I will be uploading more regularly as I have set up a proper blogging schedule and I am planning on buying my own domain! I have been saving for some time now so that I could afford it seeing as we in South Africa do not use US Dollars and the rand is extremely weak at the moment. Also, one of my YouTube videos will be going up so if you’re not subscribed already, please feel free to do so as I have a vlog going up next week. My YouTube channel is JustDeeanneDIY so if you type that in to the search bar, it will pop right up!

Anyway, I have 3 Mother’s Day posts lined up for this week: the gift guide, a few cocktail recipes (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and a recipe lined up before the big day. I just thought I’d show my readers the gifts I purchased for my mom, my boyfriend’s mom and my grandma.

Bath Products/Lotions:

I am probably Oh So Heavenly’s biggest fan when it comes to their products. This was the last gift pack they had on the shelf and I just had to snatch it for my boyfriend’s mom since she will be traveling to Thailand in December. These travel sized lotions are perfect for a mom who loves traveling or someone who moves around a lot for work. The packaging made this convenient enough not to wrap! I purchased it from Clicks and included in the pack is: travel sized body wash, travel sized body lotion and a loofah. Great mini pamper kit! If you want, you can get bigger sizes in this range but it’s all up to preference. Due to the fact that Matthew and I have been dating for 3 years, I feel that it’s okay to buy his mom a gift since his mom buys me birthday gifts and Easter parcels.

Jewellery:

My mom always told me that you can never go wrong with jewellery and she was eying a pair of these pearl earrings that I thought were so adorable. Jewellery is a difficult thing to purchase because every woman has particular taste in jewellery but if you know your mom and what she likes then it’s a great gift. These are freshwater pearl earrings from Harris & D’arcy. To go along with this gift I purchased a coffee mug that says “Mom’s The Boss” and will fill it up with candy closer to Mother’s Day and treat mom to a brunch, yum!

I was blown away when I purchased my own foot file today. Even though it has been out for about a year or so, I was amazed when it really did work. You can’t expect miracles from every product but this one was definitely worth it. Loved how easy it is to use and to clean up and the results are amazing. This one will come in hand for grandma along with a Woolworths gift voucher!

Gift Vouchers:

As mentioned before, I love Woolworths and I am obsessed with their, well, everything. A few of my favourite stores to gift vouchers to family are: Woolworths, Edgars & Truworths. As I said before, it’s really all up to you.

Hope you enjoyed my little compilation of gifts and now that you’ve gotten a glimpse of what I purchased, maybe it’ll inspire you. Stay tuned for my Mother’s Day cocktail specials tomorrow!

Hi everyone! I trust that you all had a great Easter weekend. I’m still recovering from my chocolate overload and as a result I’m in bed today working on the blog. I recently started driving so I had to swap out my gold sandals for white Converse!

P.S This week I said goodbye to that gorgeous Mini in the background so she couldn’t be left behind x

30 Day Blogging Challenge – Day 24: Inexpensive & Easy DIY Face Masks

Hi Everyone!

I really wanted to feature a DIY and Beauty segment on the blog and I decided that I would list a few of my favourite face mask recipes. Not only are these so inexpensive to make but most of the ingredients are natural which is great because we don’t use any chemicals on our face. Let’s get started!

LEMON AND HONEY FACE MASK:

Ingredients:

1/2 lemon

2 tablespoons of honey

Directions:

In a bowl, squeeze out the half a lemon and then add 2-3 tablespoons of honey until an even consistency is formed. Apply directly to the face avoiding the eye area and leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off.

OILY SKIN SOLUTION:

Ingredients:

1 avocado

1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice

1 egg white

Directions:

Combine all ingredients to form a paste, apply to skin, obviously avoiding the eye area and wait for it to dry then rinse off with cold water.

HONEY OATMEAL BLAST:

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons of honey

2 Tablespoons oatmeal

1 Tablespoon of plain yogurt

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and apply to a clean, dry face avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 5-15 minutes and rinse off.

Hope you enjoyed my easy DIY face masks, I’ll be back tomorrow with another post.

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 13 – Sorbet Spa Escape Lazy Days Sea Botanicals

Hey Everyone (:

Firstly I’d like to apologize for not putting up day 13 and 14 of the 30 day challenge because I went to the doctor last night because I haven’t been feeling too well lately and I was diagnosed with an ear infection so I am currently really sick. I honestly thought my head was going to explode yesterday because I’ve never had a migraine that intense. It was honestly the scariest thing and I was in tears because it hurt so bad.

On with the review and just a side note that I am recovering, my head is still a bit sore and I tend to want to pull my ears off every 5 minutes but I am on medication and slowly but surely dealing with it.

So this is what the Sorbet Spa Escape Gift Box looks like:

DSCN0598.JPG

I do apologize for the lighting in my photos but the weather has been so bad lately and I use natural lighting for my photos so that didn’t really help much.

This was a gift from my boyfriend’s brother for Christmas and I never really purchased anything from Sorbet before except their range of nail polishes so I was pretty excited to try it out. Basically the set includes: A R50 gift card only applicable to acrylics and a facial, a body spritzer, hand and nail cream and a nail buffer.

Sorbet Revitalize Body Spritzer:

body spritzer.jpg

I love body spritzers for when I feel like I need to freshen up on hot days or when I go to the beach so this one is definitely coming with me to campus this year. The smell is more of a sweet almost candy-like fragrance that reminds me of those bath salts I used when I was a kid or some sort of candy. I wouldn’t wear this every single day though because the smell is a little bit too strong for my liking but will definitely use it for those hot and bothersome days!

Nourishing Hand & Nail Cream:

hand lotion

This one has a similar scent to the spritzer but it a bit softer. I really wouldn’t mind keeping this in my essentials bag or my handbag for that matter because nobody likes that feeling of dry hands. I’d definitely give this product a 10/10 when it comes to softening my hands. Works like a charm and has a great fragrance.

Nail Buffer:

DSCN0604.JPG

Not going to lie, the nail buffer wasn’t really anything special to me but because I love treating my hands to a mani now and then, this will definitely come in handy.

All in all? Great job, Sorbet!

I’m looking forward to getting those acrylics now (:

TRESemme Expert Selection Platinum Strength Hair Mask – Should You Buy It?

Hello lovely readers (:

Firstly I’d like to say welcome to my new blog. I did have one before but I felt that it was a bit too over the place for me and I wanted a new site name so I kept it simple.

This weekend I felt that my hair was in dire need of some serious TLC. My hair is frizzy, but I straighten my hair because I feel that it is easier to manage that way. After years of styling my hair with intense heat (I’m talking prom since 9th grade and 2 senior balls) I felt that my hair started to become really dry and it started to fall out. This worried me. I was flipping through a Cosmopolitan magazine (because COSMO is B A E) and I saw that this product reduced up to 2 years worth of damage. My first thought? Too good to be true, nope just some advertising magic trying to get me to buy their product. Eventually I gave in and I bought it, seriously I have no control over what I spend my money on and I need help.

I’ll stop beating around the bush. Get up from wherever you are, go to the store and BUY THIS PRODUCT. In fact, go buy the whole range please it will change your life, and I am not joking. My hair went from dry to voluminous and healthy with only one use of this mask.

HOWEVER: I want people to know that the bottle says you should leave the mask on for 15 minutes. I decided to spoil myself and have a Game of Thrones marathon and left the mask on all day (approximately 5 hours) and I really allowed this product to work its magic.

Thank me later & thank you, TRESemme.

Look out for this product in my October favourites this month, it’s too good not to put in there!

All my social media information can be found on my page (:

Sincerely,

Deeanne
