VLOG: Life in the Fast Lane (Literally) – Audi TT Rides, Tamzen’s 21st and Wine Tasting.

If you told me last year that I would have an amazing group of friends and would be going out more often, I would’ve probably laughed at you and told you to tell someone else a joke. My life has changed so much since I came out of a 4 year relationship in April and I can honestly say I’ve never been this happy. I really enjoy going out with my friends and most importantly, I look forward to going to campus every day because I have them to look forward to. In this vlog you can come with me to go wine tasting, take a glimpse at what Tamzen’s 21st looked like and even take a spin in her new Audi TT.

One of my favourite quotes from Harry Potter is:

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”

Everyone creates their own happiness, if you choose to do so. For 2 weeks I refused to go to campus because I was in such a dark space and feared running into my ex at campus. Then I asked myself, why is he going around as happy as can be when I’m stuck at home feeling miserable? It was at that point when I reached rock bottom, that I knew the only place I could go was up. I really have to thank my friends for being my pillars of strength in such a dark time, but most importantly for showing me that I was happy before and I can be even happier now. I am genuinely enjoying this stage of my life and constantly meeting new people. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Recently I was approached by Beauty Bulletin to review the new African Extracts Classic Range. This range is specifically suited for combination skin which is the problem that I have. My skin will vary from oily enough to fry an egg on it to dry as a desert.

ABOUT AFRICAN EXTRACTS:

“Inspired By Nature

The authentic power of nature meets the science of contemporary skin care in African Extracts Rooibos Products.

Our Bio-Active Rooibos extract, made in the Cederberg from freshly harvested Rooibos leaves, contains high levels of antioxidants that work at a cellular level to combat the destructive action of free radicals. Caused by environmental factors, such as UV exposure and pollution, as well as lifestyle stresses, free radicals are the primary cause of ageing.

Bio-Active Rooibos, together with plant extracts and vitamins, boosts the skin’s natural defences and helps moisturize and nourish to keep it smooth, soft and young-looking for longer”

THE CLASSIC FACE CARE RANGE:

Refreshing Toner:

This gentle but effective toner has Bio-Active Rooibos extract, chamomile and witch hazel to gently soothe and refresh without leaving skin tight. Available in a  250 ml bottle. I absolutely love the fact that there is no alcohol in this, therefore my skin never feels dried out or irritated. With certain cleansers there was always a harsh smell and a burning feeling on my skin which made me very skeptical, but with this toner it left my skin feeling clean and fresh without irritation and it smells amazing!

Moisturizing Day Cream With SPF 15:

DSCN0808.JPG

This light, delicately fragranced day cream enriched with Bio-Active Rooibos extract and vitamin E is easily absorbed and leaves skin non-greasy and UVA/B protected. Available in a 75ml bottle. They were not joking when they said “delicately” fragranced. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s that my nose is extremely sensitive when it comes to certain fragrances. If the scent is too strong, I tend to get headaches and nobody wants to start their day off with a raging headache. I love that it isn’t greasy at all and I never have a problem with applying make-up over it if I decide to wear make-up that day.

Soothing Cleansing Lotion:

dscn0806

This light, non-greasy lotion gently soothes away make-up and impurities, while its rehydrating formula contains extracts of Bio-Active Rooibos and chamomile to soothe the skin. Available in a 250ml bottle. I love the fact that this can remove make-up and it’s not a hassle. It isn’t greasy which is great because as I mentioned that I can’t stand a heavy feeling on my face.

Tissue Oil:

dscn0807

This concentrated skin-care oil is nature’s all purpose remedy with the trusted soothing and rejuvenating properties of sweet almond and grape seed oil, and the antioxidant power of Bio-Active Rooibos extract and vitamin E. Available in a 60 ml bottle. I’m not going to lie, I am not a fan of the smell of this particular product. I was, however very impressed with how visibly lighter my stretchmarks appeared after using this.

Bring Out Your Bold With The New Labello Bold Blackberry Shine! x RubyBox Beauty

Hello beautiful and welcome back to my blog!

–Where have I been?–

Well, for the past few days I have been preparing for my upcoming exams, including one I am writing tomorrow. Yet, here I am in my room up late at night to bring you this blog posts. Exams has certainly ruined my sleeping patterns!

One thing I hate about exams is that when I get stressed, my skin starts to show it and my lips become extremely chapped. My saviour? The new Labello Bold Blackberry Shine Lip Balm!

Rubybox Beauty approached me a while back to add me to their bloggers database and asked if I would review products from time to time. Being the avid reviewer that I am, I could not turn down such an amazing opportunity. If you would like to check out there website then simply click here — and please note that this review company is only valid to those living in South Africa, however you can still see the amazing website and have a look at the review community.

I loved the packaging of the new flavour. It was like unwrapping a gift on Christmas! You had to pull the tab open to see the products inside. I loved the vibrant pop of colour and how it was packaged. It was bold (see what I did there…). To see my Bold look that I created, you can view my Instagram post here Labello is currently running a competition where if you buy your pack in store, you’ll find a cellphone number underneath the lip balm on the package and you can send your Bold recreations (outfit, make-up, hair etc.) to the number and stand a chance to win amazing prizes.

Inside the package were 3 little Labello Bold lip balms, RubyBox was so kind and sent me 2 boxes. In total, I have 6 Labello Bold lip balms, but I won’t be saying anything about where they might be going (Christmas Giveaway, Maybe?). The lip balm itself is small and convenient to pop into your purse, or if you’re a student like me then your compartment in your backpack. The lip balm is a “twist-up” which is great for me because I hate getting lipbalm under my nails when they’re in containers.

Before I used the Blackberry Shine, I used the Labello Blueberry Blush Lip Butter which is my all time favourite lip balm. Although the flavours are similar, they vary in a few ways.

  • The Blueberry Blush has a soft Blueberry scent, which reminds me of blueberry sweets in a way and if I had no idea what flavour it was I wouldn’t really guess berry at first. The new Labello Bold has a bold blackberry scent, one where if you had a whiff (and trust me I can’t stop sniffing my lips when I have this on) then you would automatically associate the smell with blackberries.
  • The BB Blush is a container, the BB Bold is a twist up.
  • BB blush is lighter in colour while BB Bold is a dark purple colour pictured below.

And to answer the question you may have, yes. This lip balm does leave a tinge of purple on your lips after application (my boyfriend was not happy when I gave him this one after losing his one but I think it’s cute).

Overall, I’m not going to lie. Although I was picked to review this product, I’ll always love Labello as a product because they’re the only lipbalm I use as it doesn’t irritate my lips. I will however leave my thoughts here:

  • I love the packaging: easy to access and store away.
  • Love the colour. Vampy is my go to when winter comes around but is always fun to play with. Perfect if you would like to add colour without going overboard.
  • The smell is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Like, go buy one and sniff it now please.
  • Pricing is about R21,00 which I appreciate as I am a student and don’t always have money to splurge on things that I actually need.
  • Does not irritate my lips. I HATE menthol and other strongly scented lip balms because they tend to make my lips tingle then dry them out.

Let me know what you think of the new Labello Bold, head over to my Instagram too so you don’t miss out on my Labello Bold demo which I will be uploading on Saturday to my IG.
